From the streets of Berkeley to the vantage point overlooking the Brooklyn Bridge, I have embarked on a series of long exposures ranging from 10 seconds to 5 minutes. In my journey, I have explored the interplay between light and time, drawing inspiration from the works of acclaimed photographer Tokihiro Sato, who masterfully employs light to paint and imbue his images with depth. The first photograph in this series captures a mesmerizing scene as I moved around a tree, utilizing my phone flashlight to initiate the exposure. This technique allowed me to infuse the image with a sense of dynamism and intrigue, reminiscent of Sato's methodology. The third photograph features a serendipitous encounter with a girl I met on the bustling New York subway. Our shared passion for photography became the catalyst for an unforgettable day spent capturing images throughout the city.
